Why foil balls do not help when washing

Today, the Internet is replete with articles about a fashionable and useful “life hack” for washing, which has a lot of advantages. Everyone is invited to experience washing laundry with balls of aluminum foil. Articles about this interesting way of washing contain many positive reviews. In fact, all this applause is deserved by your washing machine, which perfectly launders laundry without them, and the presence of such balls in the machine is absolutely useless.
Why do some put foil balls in a washing machine
Having read the “useful” tips on the Internet, many people begin to apply this method of washing in practice. Here are the five most common misconceptions about what supposedly gives such a life hack:
- An additional effect on things, while spots are better washed off, so the washing time can be reduced.
- Things turn out cleaner and softer.
- There is no stain left on the tissues.
- Reduces machine consumption of air conditioning and powder, saving budget.
- The foil removes static electricity from things thanks to the beneficial properties of aluminum.
Why there can be no static voltage when washing
In fact, a washing machine is a very good unit: economical and perfectly acting on things mechanically, so it can wash clothes with a minimum amount of powder, conditioners and other additives.
Additional mechanical impact on things is also not required, the manufacturer has already developed a special drum and a unique system of its rotation, so that things are processed mechanically inside. A pair of some light lumps of aluminum (this is a very light metal) is not able to provide the slightest impact.
All other “compliments” regarding the softness and cleanliness of the laundry - this is only the merit of this smart and ingeniously designed unit.
The appearance of static electricity inside the washing machine is also a myth. Water is electrically conductive, the drum of the machine is made of stainless steel - it is also an excellent conductor, and the machine also has an earthing circuit.
The simplest experiment confirms the correctness of the conclusions - any electrified object, in contact with water, loses all its accumulated charge - these are the laws of physics that no one has yet been able to defeat or cancel. Therefore, a couple of pieces of aluminum inside the washing machine will not do anything, the manufacturer has already taken into account and provided for everything. But the side effects from the use of foil balls in the machine may well occur.
Possible negative consequences
According to the instructions, do not put any metal objects into the washing machine, because they can lead to damage to things. Firstly, the balls are metal (aluminum is metal), that is, it is forbidden to immediately put them into the machine by the manufacturer. Secondly, the slightest roughness will lead to damage to things, puffs, scratches and even holes.Thirdly, the unwound foil clogs the filter and the drain hole of the machine, interfering with normal operation and threatening to break the pump. Fourth, aluminum balls may scratch the glass.
Now you understand that the use of foil balls is not only useless, but also a dangerous activity, and you will not spoil your things and your car with a useless check.
