What pumps can be used to supply hot water

Good afternoon!

Could you please tell me whether the “Brook” or “Kid” pump will work normally at a water temperature of 100 ° C? Thank!

Anatoly

Good afternoon, Anatoly.

Vibration pumps such as "Kid", "Trickle", "Water-jet", etc. are not intended for pumping hot water. They can be used only if the temperature of the liquid does not exceed 35-40 ° C. The thing is that the cooling of the solenoid coil occurs due to the heat transfer of the pump housing - the unit does not have active cooling. In addition, the design of "Brook", "Baby" and other similar inexpensive units does not provide a temperature controller, which means that if the pump overheats, it will fail with a 100% probability.

Of course, you can use the vibration pump in the short-term operation mode. However, no one can guarantee that high temperature will not have destructive effects on the rubber elements of the structure - the valve plate, membrane, seals, etc.

You should look at devices that are designed to work in high temperature environments. In such units, the electrical part has additional protection with dielectric compositions, and all parts are made of high-quality heat-resistant materials. Pumps of the brands HOMA, Feili WQR, Wilo-Drain and others have good reviews. Of course, their cost is much higher than that of the same Water-Jet, but you can rest assured that higher costs are guaranteed to pay off by reliable and trouble-free operation of the unit during many years of operation.
