3 tips to easily tighten any screw

Experienced craftsmen use certain skills when screwing long self-tapping screws into hard wood and when working in hard to reach places. You will find some secrets in our article.

Rubbing screws with soap or a candle

In both cases, the risk of tearing down the slots or breaking off long red-hot fasteners is reduced, the load on the tool is reduced, and labor productivity is increased.

But the use of soap adversely affects the screw, because in its composition it contains caustic, which reacts with carbon steel. This causes corrosion, which will result in weakening of the structure. A self-tapping screw screwed with soap, after 2-3 years, becomes covered with rust, it will be problematic to turn it out to replace the part. Although the soap makes it easier to screw in, you need to think carefully before using this method, since adverse effects are possible.

The use of a paraffin candle for these purposes is safe for wood and metal. When screwing in, from friction, the self-tapping screw and the part are heated, paraffin melts and impregnates the tree around the screw. Such a lubricant makes it easier to screw in a self-tapping screw, protects its thread and part from corrosion. Therefore, no matter how much time has passed, it can be easily unscrewed to disassemble the structure.

Magnetic fastening of a screw to a nozzle

For holding screws, professional magnetic bushings, nozzles and couplings of industrial manufacture are used. But when they are not there, but it is necessary to screw the fasteners into a hard-to-reach place, a technique with small magnets is practiced.

It is better to attach them to the bit at the junction with the head of the self-tapping screw, they will hold the fasteners reliably and will not come off when turning the screwdriver. If after work you leave the magnets on the bit, the latter will be magnetized and in the future it will be better to hold the screws.

Mounting with masking tape

In the absence of magnets, masking tape or any adhesive tape will help out. We attach the screw to the bit, pierce a piece of adhesive tape with a self-tapping screw and fix its ends on the screwdriver's chuck.

The information presented will be useful to everyone who first encountered such problems. Use the knowledge of masters and resourceful people, ease your work, add pleasure to it.
