Is it possible for men to take a hot bath: how not to lose male power

Not only the presence of primary sexual characteristics makes a man a man, but the health and normal functioning of the organs of the reproductive system is the most relevant topic for all members of the stronger sex. Losing men's health means losing part of their masculine essence. There are many factors that negatively affect the reproductive system of men and one of them is a hot bath.

Why a hot bath is dangerous for men's health

It is known that the basal temperature of male testicles is 34 degrees, such environmental conditions are necessary for the full formation of sperm and preserve their functions. It is for this reason that the physiological location of the scrotum is far from other organs. For this reason, doctors do not recommend men to abuse hot baths or frequent baths and saunas. As the temperature inside the testes rises, the sperm lose their mobility.

Sperm

As the temperature rises, sperm lose their motility

It is permissible to take a bath 1-2 times a month, while the temperature of the water in it should not greatly exceed body temperature. The optimum water temperature is up to 40 degrees, and the permissible session duration is 10-15 minutes. Under such conditions, nothing threatens men's health, but men who like to take a steam bath may face difficulties in conceiving a child.

Before conducting a spermogram (procedures for assessing the ejaculate fertility), it is recommended to refrain from taking hot baths for 3 weeks before analysis.

If you lie in too hot water every day for several years for 30–40 minutes, then this can subsequently lead to a decrease in male strength. Also, these conditions can cause disturbances in the work of other body systems, including endocrine, cardiovascular, nervous.

Man in the bathroom

Regular swimming in water above 40 degrees is dangerous to health in general.

If you exclude excessive enthusiasm for a hot bath and leave the bath 2-3 times a week at temperatures above 40 degrees, then you may encounter the following consequences:

  • changes in the biochemical composition of sperm;
  • slowing down the speed of sperm in the ejaculate;
  • sperm maturation period increases, and their life expectancy decreases by tens of times.

All of these changes affect reproductive function, reducing the chance of effective conception. Recent medical studies have shown that in healthy men the likelihood of producing offspring after taking a hot bath is reduced several times.

Hot baths do not directly affect the production of testosterone and are not able to make men infertile.

What diseases is a hot bath contraindicated for men?

It is unacceptable to sit in hot water or visit baths and saunas during any acute inflammatory processes in the body, in particular in the reproductive system (prostatitis, orchitis (testicular inflammation), etc.).The following chronic diseases are also contraindications:

  • heart disease;
  • asthenia and tachycardia;
  • tumor formations of any etiology;
  • pneumonia;
  • epilepsy;
  • diseases of veins and blood vessels;
  • hemorrhoids, etc.

When prostatitis is prohibited to take a hot bath

The systematic use of a hot bath is not able to lead to impotence, however, a number of other negative consequences are possible. With an increase in temperature in the testicles, a man temporarily loses the ability to conceive due to a violation of the functions and properties of sperm.
