Why is it considered that you cannot throw toilet paper in the toilet
Toilet paper is made on the basis of cellulose, a natural material that is strong enough and, most importantly, insoluble in water. The ban on throwing toilet paper in sanitary appliances is based on this property, but this ban is not categorical and depends on several factors.
For which houses is the ban relevant
In new multi-storey buildings, you can not be afraid of congestion in the pipes and quietly throw the used paper into the toilet - the pipes have not yet had time to overgrow with lime growths, and the water flows are strong enough and will take the softened paper to the sewer. The paper will not dissolve, but may be crushed, and its debris will eventually end up on the grids of the sewer sump and will be removed with other insoluble materials.
Those small pieces that have passed through the grates will be exposed to biologically active substances that are specially added to sewage to liquefy. If the house is old, then the pipes in it have a narrowed clearance, which leads to frequent clogging. In old houses, do not throw toilet paper into the toilet.
In private houses, as a rule, there is no central sewage system, but there is a small separate network of sewage into the septic tank or cesspool. If the release is made of pipes whose diameter is less than 100 mm, and even with steep turning angles, then the ban on throwing paper into the toilet for such houses should be strict.

New varieties of toilet paper, which dissolve in water, are on sale. Such paper costs several times more than usual, but the use of such hygiene products completely eliminates clogging of pipes. Cellulose paper is not able to dissolve in water due to its chemical composition and physical properties.

- apartment in a new building;
- in a private house, the sewage system is made of pipes with a diameter of more than 100 mm;
- pipes are laid without sharp bends and turns;
- the contents of the drive are diluted with biologically active substances.
The ban is also not strict if the private building is connected to the central sewer. If there is a chance that the pipe will clog, then it is better not to risk it and not throw toilet paper into the toilet.
