How to make a septic tank from eurocubes with your own hands - a detailed photo-installation manual

Rest in the country is pleasant only if all the benefits of civilization are present there. For a modern person, the presence of a water supply and sewage system is one of the criteria of comfort. And if there is no problem with this in apartment buildings, then in the private sector, residents have to look for a way out of this situation. Sometimes, in order to save money, people equip an ordinary drain pit. In this case, apart from the cheapness of the building, there are no other positive aspects. It is much better to build a septic tank from European cubes with your own hands, which will last you a single year. Moreover, this is one of the easiest ways to equip sewers in a country house.
What are the advantages of a septic tank over other designs?
- preventing the spread of unpleasant odors;
- absence of soil contamination with human waste products;
- unnecessary in the services of wastewater, cleaning the septic tank is quite rare and it can be done independently;
- a septic tank will serve much longer than a cesspool.
Choose the right capacity
The size of the septic tank is selected depending on the amount of effluent. Their volume is determined depending on the period of operation and the number of inhabitants in the house. For temporary use in the summer, a small-volume design is suitable, and year-round use of a septic tank involves daily discharge of effluents.
Their volume is determined by the number of people living in the house. It is estimated that the daily water consumption per person is 200 liters. Focusing on this value, the daily water consumption for all residents is determined. The volume of the septic tank should be three times more than this indicator. It is advisable to choose a slightly larger volume septic tank, given the unexpected increase in runoff.
Where to place a septic tank on the site?
Sewer construction should be located away from the place of water intake. The minimum distance is 50 meters. When installing a septic tank, it is necessary to move away at least 6 meters from the foundation of the building, but it should not be built too far from the building.
Since the sewage system must have a sufficient slope, every extra meter leads to a decrease in the level of septic tank installation. In addition, in a long pipeline there is a high probability of blockages. To eliminate them will have to build viewing wells. Also, do not place the septic tank closer than 3 meters to the neighboring site.
Preparing the pit and base for installation
To build a septic tank from European cubes, the first thing you need to do is prepare a pit for tanks and a trench for sewer pipes. The size of the pit for the septic tank is taken from the calculation of the volume of installed cameras plus 15 centimeters on each side.The depth of the pit depends on the size of the eurocubes and the slope of the sewer line, which should be at least 2 centimeters per meter of the pipeline.
The bottom of the pit is about fifteen centimeters poured with concrete. During this process, you need to make loops to “anchor” the cubes so that they are not squeezed out by groundwater. A trench rummages from the house to the installation site of the septic tank. The trench should have a bias towards the septic tank.
Preparation of eurocubes for further installation
Before starting work, containers must be prepared. At this stage, the drain in the lower part of the tank is sealed, and holes for inlet and outlet pipes and ventilation are made in the eurocubes themselves.
To prepare 2 Eurocubes for use as sewers, you will need four tees and pipe sections (d = 10-15 cm). To insert a tee, an incision is made around the neck in the shape of the letter P and the edge is bent.

In order to insert a tee into the container, you need to make a cut. Its size should be sufficient for the passage of the tee
In the first cube, you need to make a hole for the pipe going from the house. A piece of pipe of the required length is cut, inserted into the resulting hole and connected to the tee.

A sewer pipe from the house is brought into this hole. When connecting pipes do not forget to check for rubber bands
For ventilation, a hole is cut over the tee and a piece of pipe is inserted (d = 5 cm). On the other side of the tank, an outlet is made, which should be located below the inlet. In another Eurocube, the same hole is made, but taking into account the fact that the cube will be located 20 cm below the first. This is necessary for the full use of the volume of the second capacity. Tees must be connected to the pipe connecting both tanks, on top of which ventilation outlets are installed.

On both sides of the pipe connecting the tanks, you must connect the tees and install the ventilation outlets
An opening is also made for a drainage pipe facing the aeration field. After all pipes have been installed, the joints should be sealed.
The seam around the neck is riveted and sealed too. A waterproofing layer is deposited on top.
So that the containers do not move relative to each other, it is necessary to securely fasten them to each other. For this, the Eurocube frames are welded together. For a more solid mount, fittings are used.
Installation of Eurocubes in the pit
Prepared Eurocubes are installed in the pit and attached to the prepared hinges with a cable. Where soils have the ability to swell, it is necessary to protect the tanks. To do this, you can lay a professional sheet or boards treated with an antiseptic on all sides, or fill the distance between the soil and the walls of the cubes with concrete. In this case, the tank frame will serve as additional reinforcement. Before pouring concrete, the containers must be filled with water, and the process itself should be performed gradually and very carefully.
Note! The walls of the Eurocube are very thin, therefore the process of pouring concrete requires extreme caution.
Using polystyrene, the walls of the tanks and the top are insulated. The whole structure is covered with wood or concrete.

Walls and tops of Eurocubes are insulated with foam. This will help to prevent freezing of the septic tank in cold weather.
In any case, such a homemade septic tank from Eurocubes does not completely clean the drains. Therefore, for complete cleaning, it is best to equip a drainage field. Only in this case the sewer system will be completed.
