A simple tool to remove spools from woolen clothing
In the cold season, warm wool is indispensable. Thick pants, soft sweaters and fluffy scarves and hats are always present in the autumn-winter wardrobe. But on any clothes made of wool, spools appear over time, which give the product an untidy and well-worn look. Teasel balls usually occur:
- due to mechanical friction of the product on belts, bags, outerwear;
- due to improper care.
A thing loses its appeal, and it becomes awkward to wear it. But before you get rid of such clothes, you can try to fix the problem. There are several ways to deal with spools. But in no case can you tear them off manually, since you can damage the thing by pulling the fiber.
Using pumice
You can remove the teas balls from clothes either with a special machine or with improvised means, for example, with ordinary pumice stone. This light in weight and spongy structure of volcanic origin is more commonly used for cosmetic purposes as a means for foot care. However, the soft porous surface not only gently exfoliates rough skin, but is also great for removing spools and villi from woolen things.
How does pumice work
To clean the clothes from the balls of wool, lay them on a hard surface - a table or ironing board. Gently pumice along the fabric fibers in one direction until all the spools are removed. In order not to damage the thing, you only need to press slightly, without applying effort. Unwanted villi cling to the porous surface of the pumice and remain on it, and the fabric becomes smooth. Having removed the spools, you can draw the product several times with a sticky tape roller, collecting the remains.
How effective is the method
Pumice easily restores the appearance of woolen things, whether it be a sweater, pants or even a blanket. The larger the cells of this stone, the better the pellets cling and cut. The attractiveness of this method is that pumice does not leave fleece on woolen products. And unlike a razor and blades of a special machine, it is not dull, it is not capable of cutting tissue with careless movement and is always at hand. Of course, in the process of operation, the nap balls can form again, but this only means that the product is often worn.
The presence of pellets on your favorite woolen clothes is not a sentence or a reason to throw them away immediately. The simple process of getting rid of clothes from unwanted fallen villi with the help of regular pumice stones will allow things to give their owner comfort and warmth for a long time in the cold season.
