Design nuances of designing a gas boiler in the kitchen

In modern apartments, owners use innovative solutions to create comfort. For example, gas boilers are used as equipment to supplement unreliable centralized heating and hot water supply. In such cases, gas-fired heat generators are usually installed in the kitchen. We will talk about how to concisely fit them into the overall design.

Ways to hide

So, the owners purchased a wall-mounted gas boiler. It is planned to install equipment in the kitchen, in parallel with the output of a special coaxial chimney pipe immediately behind the main wall, horizontally onto the street. Let's see what there are ways to hide the mounted unit.

If the boiler fits into the general situation, it is not necessary to hide it

1. Of course, the best option is to place the heat generator in a specially made cabinet, which by design completely repeats all the parts of the kitchen set.
2. You can make a metal frame, sheathe it with drywall, hide the boiler inside this niche, and then hang the door. She, too, should repeat the typeface of the headset.
3. There is an option to finish the front surface of the boiler: paint or paste over with a film.
4. Finally, just hang the heat generator somewhere to the side of the headset, if its color matches the dominant tones. In this case, the gas unit will look in accordance with the overall style of the kitchen.

The only decision on the design of the part of the room with the boiler must, of course, be taken before the installation of the unit begins. In this case, it is still necessary to think over the lining of communications in advance. How to cover the gas pipe and electrical wiring? And now we will begin, in fact, to describe the procedures for “pouring” the boiler into the big picture.

Hiding in the kitchen cabinet headset

If it is decided to place the gas apparatus in a hinged element appropriate for the provided headset, a stumbling block immediately appears. When the boiler is attached inside the designer furniture for the kitchen, the main problem is the need to make a cabinet according to individual sizes. Next, we will describe the manufacturing process of such a link from particleboard.

Tools and accessories that come in handy are listed below:

• Roulette;
• Jigsaw;
• Furniture self-tapping screws;
• Electric drill with drills and a crown on wood;
• Set of hexagons;
• Chipboard plate;
• Two slats;
• Standard kitchen facade, that is, the door of the desired color;
• Two furniture hinges;
• Set for a canopy of a cabinet;
• Iron and furniture decorative banding.

We proceed to the procedure:

1. First of all, we learn the dimensions of the gas boiler.We take the necessary dimensions of the future cabinet according to the following principle: the distance between the sides of the heat generator and the walls of the furniture should be at least 3 cm. The same applies to the bottom with the top. Thus, we add 6 cm to the dimensions of the gas unit and select the closest standard facade size from the series in which the headset is made.
2. We get this door with hinges. Well, if it is with an unusual, ventilating decor.
3. With an electric jigsaw, we evenly cut out the side walls from the chipboard plate. At the same time, the cabinet depth should also be at least 3 cm greater than the corresponding boiler size.
4. Similarly, we cut the bottom and top of our box. But in some of these elements you will have to make a cutout in advance for the output of the boiler's communications. It already depends on the specific case.
5. In one of the produced sidewalls, we make a crown with recesses for furniture hinges.

6. We assemble the cabinet. To connect each pair of walls, we drill two holes for furniture bolts, placing the elements together.
   

   Tip. Perpendicularity must be observed during assembly. To do this, when drilling each pair of walls, it is worth using a square and an ordinary stool. Putting one wall on the surface for sitting, put the second vertically, apply a square and drill according to the marking. It is also advisable to use the help of a partner.

7. We connect the cabinet elements with furniture bolts under the hexagon. Instead of the back wall we fasten two slats: one on top, the other on the bottom. If this is not done, the box will remain shaky. However, one of these slats may have to be slightly pushed away from the edge - depending on how its communications depart from the boiler.
8. On the top of such a beam we attach elements for attaching to the wall of the apartment.
9. Using a heated iron, we glue the noticeable ends of the cut-out walls with a furniture band-edging.
10. We hang the facade on the cabinet.
11. All. Now you can gently slide the created headset link directly onto the boiler and attach this furniture to the kitchen wall.

How to close the boiler with drywall

This method is similar to the previous one, only instead of walls from chipboard, plasterboard bases are mounted, and then the facade is also hung on them. To make this design, we need accessories from the following list:

• Metal profiles for attaching drywall;
• GKL plate;
• Facade of our kitchen;
• Hinges for attaching this door;
• Screwdriver;
• Self-tapping screws.

We proceed with the procedure before installing the boiler.

1. In parallel with the alleged walls of the boiler, 5 cm from them, we mount the frame from the profiles. The assembly technology of such structures is simple: metal elements are connected by self-tapping screws and are also attached to the kitchen wall.
2. We cut out the size of the sheets of plasterboard and screw them to the assembled frames.
3. In one of the obtained side walls we make recesses for fastening the hinges. The latter should be screwed to the profile.
4. Now you can install the boiler.
5. The last operation will be the hanging of the facade.

The disadvantages of this method include the inconvenience of installing a heat generator, as well as the excessive thickness of the drywall side walls produced in the described process.

Other options and masking communications

In addition to the methods considered, the simplest ones remained, when you can trim the front surface of the boiler or it matches the color. Here are some recommendations regarding these methods.

If it is decided to glue the front part of the heat generator with a special film to match the color of the headset, then you need to act very carefully. In order not to get air bubbles, on such a coating, it is necessary to start gluing on top and carefully smooth every centimeter.At the end of the procedure, the protruding edges of the film can be gently cut with a clerical knife.

The disadvantages of this method are obvious:

• It is difficult to choose a film with a color identical to the kitchen set.
• Such coverage is short-lived.
• You may lose the service guarantee for the boiler.

As for painting the front wall of the boiler, this option is probably only suitable for old equipment that has been hanging in the kitchen for a long time. After all, hardly anyone will dare to repaint the new unit under warranty.

But if you nevertheless decided to cover the facade of the boiler with enamel, you must first clean the surface with sandpaper and degrease with white spirit. Since the body of the thermal unit is usually metal, it is better to use nitro enamel.

In many design options, the gas boiler is simply hung from the side, in the far corner or somewhere between the lockers. Its color may even differ from the tone of the headset, but at the same time, the unit will still organically fit into the overall style. For example, if the gas boiler is white and the headset is of a different color, but at the same time there are white elements in the kitchen, then everything can turn out quite successfully.

We did not touch upon another important point: how to hide the communications of a heat generator? But everything is simple. A gas pipe and an electric cable, as well as other possible lines, are enough to “sew” into a decorative box. Elements for such constructions are standard and are sold in building hypermarkets.

The original solution will be to design the installed box as an additional highlight for the kitchen set or pole to hold any awnings. However, it must be remembered that there should always be easy access to the gas pipe.
