Carbon heater - how it works and the better than other heating options?

With the arrival of chilly autumn days, when it becomes cold and uncomfortable in a once cozy apartment, and the heating still doesn’t turn on, it’s right to immediately search for a suitable option for heating your home. Relatively recently, a new device appeared on the market - a carbon heater, which, thanks to its operational characteristics, is gaining increasing consumer confidence.

Internal design and advantages over other units

This device is in many ways similar to the usual IR heaters, but instead of a tungsten coil, a carbon fiber in the form of twisted tapes and cords placed in a quartz tube from which the air is forced out is used as a heating element.

The electric current passing through this fiber heats the carbon (carbon) filament, which causes infrared radiation. IR rays, reaching surfaces and objects, warm them to a depth of about 2 cm, after which the objects already give off heat to the surrounding space.

Carbon Heaters

Carbon heaters have a modern design. You can always choose the best option for any style of room

An indisputable advantage over fan heaters and oil heaters is that with low power consumption, these devices have high heat output. So, if an oil heater with a power of 1 kW is enough to warm up 10 square meters. m. of area, then carbon, having the same power, will provide heat to 30 square meters. m., and will further maintain the necessary temperature.

Worth paying attention to! Due to the properties of carbon fiber, heaters of this type compare favorably with traditional devices. Their energy consumption is 2-2.5 times lower with the same efficiency.

In addition to rational energy consumption, infrared carbon heaters have an aesthetically attractive appearance, compact size and modern design. The temperature of the heating element may not exceed 90 ° C. Therefore, there is no negative impact on the environment and the microclimate of the room: the heater does not dry the air and does not burn oxygen.

The operational characteristics that are inherent to heaters of this type are quite attractive to the consumer. These include:

    • economical energy consumption;
    • almost unlimited service life of the heating element, which is protected from moisture and dust;
    • compact sizes and weight within 4 kilograms;
    • mobility;
    • quite powerful heat flow;
    • instant targeted heating and very fast cooling when turned off;
    • the possibility of outdoor use (balcony, greenhouse);

fire safety.

Wall mounted carbon heaters

Wall-mounted carbon heaters are good because they practically do not take up space, do not interfere, they are able to cover and warm a significant area with useful radiation

A curious feature is the ability of these devices to beneficially affect the human body.

Infrared rays coming from the heater can penetrate deep into the body, which significantly improves blood circulation, serves as a prophylaxis for colds, inflammatory processes in the joints and muscles.

The principle of operation of the carbon heater

Carbon fiber has a higher thermal conductivity compared to metals, which are used in other types of heaters as heating elements. Therefore, it has greater heat dissipation. Carbon heaters with a vertical design are able to rotate 180 degrees, which allows infrared rays to cover a significant area of the room. Such devices are mobile, instantly heat up and also quickly cool when turned off. To ensure safety, automatic shutdown is provided when in the wrong position for operation, overheating or falling. The heating element is located in the middle of the device and is protected by a metal grill, so the risk of getting a burn is almost zero.

It is very convenient to use infrared wall carbon heaters in houses where there are small children. This is the most comfortable and suitable, from the point of view of safety, way of additional heating. At the same time, fixed to the wall, they do not occupy living space, and heating abilities remain at the proper level. Ceiling models are sometimes integrated into suspended ceilings.

Most models of infrared carbon heaters are made with a built-in thermostat, which allows you to maintain a comfortable temperature. Control is usually carried out with the help of rotary controls located on the device body. Advanced models can be equipped with remote controls, which allows you to set the desired temperature mode without moving from a place.

The carbon heater turned on in the dark looks incredibly beautiful. The heat and light coming from it give the impression of a fireplace in the room. To date, this heating option is perhaps the most optimal. This is the most economical, safe, useful and durable way to provide comfortable heat in your home.

      It was possible to buy. Of course, they were not as elegantly decorated as they are today. They looked like special equipment, but there was a place to be. I was warmed like this in the after birth chamber in February 1982.

      I bought such a heater, nothing special. In other species, you can also find pros and cons. Now carbonic ones have become fashionable, everyone sings them praises, but I can’t say that this is a super device. Yes, it is beautiful in the dark, a pleasant radiating color when the spiral is glowing, it gives off heat as it should. Is that a little faster warms up the air. Another advantage is what is considered economical in energy consumption. However, it also has a significant drawback - it cannot be dropped, it immediately fails. Such a heating device cannot be repaired, that is, it is immediately emitted. And the price is not average at all. That's where the savings are? Yes, and the average service life is low, about 2-3 years, unless you drop it earlier.

        Why did you get that no more than 2-3 years ?!

          Goldstar has worked for me for 21 years, yesterday one of the two lamps burned out.

            If you read the article from above ↑, then you noticed that we are talking about a heater with a CARBON element. I do not think that 21 years ago it was possible to buy it.
