How to curtain windows with tulle without curtain rods

Modern high-rise buildings are often located at a short distance from each other. As a result, not only do we observe how our neighbors live opposite, but we ourselves also become the object of the same observation. But it’s quite possible to protect your personal space without curtains hanging the window.
Bonding tulle to windows
The advantages of this window decoration method are:
- simplicity of the process;
- a wide selection of materials - from handmade lace to the finest tulle;
- profitability - there is no need to purchase curtain rods and tailoring curtains;
- spectacular - the sun's rays, passing through such a decor, form intricate patterns on the walls.
Tulle is glued to glass using a starch paste. It is better not to use synthetic glue. Firstly, it may turn yellow due to the effects of temperatures, and secondly, it will be very difficult to remove the curtains, but they will get dirty over time.
Material preparation
To implement this idea, you will need:
- tulle cut;
- scissors;
- meter tape;
- wide brush;
- glue based on starch.
Tulle in texture and color can be any. If there is a desire to darken the room, it is better to choose darker tones, if you need more light, then it is better to stay on a white canvas with a minimum of drawing.
Before proceeding with the gluing process, it is necessary to prepare the window itself, thoroughly cleaning it from dust. Then you need to measure the height and width of each glass and cut the corresponding rectangles from the fabric.
Adhesive preparation
Glue based on starch is good in that it leaves no residue on glass and material, and subsequently it is easy to rinse with warm water. To prepare the glue, you need to pour 1 tablespoon of potato starch into 0.5 liters of hot water. Mix the mixture thoroughly so that there are no lumps left. The consistency of the glue should not be too thick, but not liquid.
Fastening tulle to glasses
When the paste cools down, you can begin the gluing process.
- Use a wide brush to apply glue to the glass.
- Carefully attach the canvas to the surface and smooth out so that there are no wrinkles.
- On top of the fabric, you again need to walk with a brush, evenly distributing the glue.
- Allow the surface to dry.
Tulle can be glued to glass in another way: the canvas must be lowered into a container with a paste, removed and slightly squeezed, applied to the glass, carefully smoothed.
During gluing, make sure that excess glue does not remain on the frames, otherwise when it dries, it will be difficult to remove.
How to clean
Undoubtedly, after some time there will be a need to wash the window, freeing the glass from the decor. This is not difficult to do - just moisten the tulle with hot water and let it saturate well with moisture. After that, the fabric is easily removed, and the remains of starch paste are washed off the glass surface.
Lace windows attract with their practicality. They create a small shadow, protect from sunlight and prying eyes.They are easy to stick on and just as easily removed, unlike the usual curtains several meters wide.
