Design features of the pump
Practical equipment, which has proved itself to be an optimal ratio of quality and cost, is quite simply arranged. It consists of two elements: the pump part and the electric motor. The pump operates using centrifugal force.
It is a housing through which the drive shaft passes with the blades, impellers and drive rings put on it. A cap with a female thread holds all the parts in place. When the device is turned on, the impellers begin to rotate, creating a centrifugal force pumping fluid that fills the interior of the housing.
The motor part includes a stator, a rotor and two ball bearings rotating in an oil environment. Reliable automation for Aquarius pumps, manufactured by the German company Thermik, monitors the operation of the engine and provides its effective protection in case critical operating conditions occur. It is proposed to control the pump from an external remote control device, which is connected to the power cord.
The equipment is designed to supply water from depths from 1 to 20 m with a minimum well diameter of 120 mm. The pressure of the supplied water can be adjusted by a special valve located on the outlet section of the working hose. The device is designed for lifting water with a volume of 360 l to 12 cubic meters per hour, with a hose cross section of at least ¾ inch. Connection and maintenance of the device
Before lowering the device into the well, it must be prepared:
- Pressure line connection. Actually, what it will be - depends on the depth of installation and the purpose of using the device. This can be a watering hose, if the pump will be used only for watering or to fill containers with water, or a pipe made of metal or durable plastic in the case of a stationary installation to work in tandem with a hydraulic accumulator.
Mounting a check valve.You need to know that the wiring diagram for the Aquarius pump operating in a closed pressure head water supply system must necessarily include a non-return valve, which is not installed at the factory. The operation can be carried out in two ways: insertion into the pipeline at a distance of not more than 1 m from the outlet pipe or mounting the valve directly into the pipe. - Fastening the cable. The cable, which can be either nylon or steel, is passed through and firmly attached to special eyes on the case. You need to know that it is forbidden to raise and lower the device by the cable. Practice shows that to facilitate lowering and lifting, it is best to fix the cable in the pressure pipe using special brackets, so the risk of mechanical damage will be minimized. Then, the Aquarius pump is connected through the power cord to an outlet.
- The device is carefully lowered into the well, and pressure on the pressure hose and power cable is not allowed. The equipment is fixed at the required depth with a cable. The pump is ready to use.
Despite the fact that the device is very reliable and designed for uninterrupted long-term operation, it is recommended to take it out of the well every two years and carry out an audit. Begin with an external examination. The engine axis should not jam during rotation, which ideally will be soft and light. If this is the case and the device is supplying water properly at the right pressure, you can put it in its place.
If in doubt about the operation of the equipment, continue inspection. The basic arrangement of the Aquarius pump suggests that rotation bearings need to be inspected regularly and possibly replaced. It is worth checking the condition of these parts, the oil seal, as well as the oil level. If necessary, the seals and bearings must be replaced, add oil. You should also inspect the motor winding for possible damage or signs of overheating. The engine must be disassembled very carefully: the cable insulation becomes brittle over time and can be very easily damaged. The pump part does not require special care, however, if the pressure of the device has significantly decreased, it is worth changing the impellers, which, most likely, have worn out.
Pump cleaning and minor repairs
Sometimes it happens that the device stops rotating and its owner faces the question of how to disassemble the Aquarius pump. You should know that there is no internal filter in the device, and the mesh that traps stones and coarse sand is installed outside, between the pump part and the engine. Therefore, if the rotation has stopped, most likely the reason lies in the damage or clogging of the impellers. If the blockage is minimal, you can try to cope with the problem yourself. Cleaning is carried out in stages:
- It is necessary to remove the protective mesh. In new models, it is attached using a special clip, which can be opened by prying it with a screwdriver and slightly pressing in the middle. On older devices, there are two ordinary screws that can be easily unscrewed.
- On wide models of pumps, the cable channel is additionally removed - a small metal groove that protects the cable from damage.
- The engine is separated from the pump part by unscrewing four bolts, a key of 10 is needed. Then the plastic couplings that transmit the motor force to the pump are removed.
- The disassembled design is very neat, so as not to damage the cable, it is laid on a horizontal surface.
- Then you need to try to rotate the shaft with the head 12 or with a socket wrench, while holding the upper part of the device with your hand.As soon as the shaft moves, you should immediately direct a stream of water into the pump part, in order to try to wash out the particles that jammed the device. If everything succeeds and the shaft rotates freely, carefully flush the pump, after which we assemble it in the reverse order.
If impellers are damaged, you can not do without disassembling the pump part. Experts recommend delegating this operation to service workers, since replacement of damaged parts will be required.
Quite often, the owners of the device, stating the cessation of rotation of the axis in the pump part, believe that the bearing is jammed. However, the single plain bearing located in this part cannot jam. This is a problem with impellers, which, most likely, will have to be changed.
If you have spare parts, you can try to repair the Aquarius pump with your own hands. To do this, you need:
- Strongly squeeze the case from the bottom and top, resting against the brass element of the bottom of the device.
- Carefully pull out the snap ring, which is held in a special groove, and loosens when the housing is squeezed heavily.
- Remove all impellers in turn, then the thrust cover with bearing.
- Remove jamming and reassemble in the reverse order.
It is worth noting that in conditions of service disassembly and subsequent assembly of the pump is carried out using a special press. Therefore, at home it will be extremely difficult to perform operations, if not simply impossible.
It is safe to say that the centrifugal pump Aquarius is a practical, simple and effective device for supplying water in an autonomous water supply system.
