Hello, Natalia.

Today, the installation of gas and fire safety control systems is regulated by the standards of SP 62.13330.2010 from 2011-05-20. According to paragraph 7.2 of these Rules, the installation of a gas sensor, a fire detector and an electromagnetic valve is provided for in "rooms of all purposes (except residential), in which
gas-powered equipment operating in automatic mode ... ”

However, this does not mean at all that all residential buildings do not need to install monitoring alarms and actuators. Exceptions are the premises:

  • equipped with boilers and water heaters with power above 60 kW;
  • basement, ground floors and extensions - regardless of the performance of heat generating installations.

Carbon dioxide level alarms will also need to be installed if gas-burning equipment with an open combustion chamber is installed in the room (in other words, when the air necessary for the gas boiler or gas column to work is not taken from the outside, but from the same room in which it is installed).

As you can see, the regulations clearly spell out all cases of mandatory installation of monitoring and alarm devices. If your case does not fall under any requirement of the Rules, feel free to write a request in the name of the gas director, and then contact Rostekhnadzor with his answer and design documentation.

For our part, we still recommend that you listen to the recommendations of the gas service and spend money on installing an alarm with a shut-off valve, because your safety and the safety of property depend on this.
