Is it possible to install an adapter with a 120 mm chimney cross-section and a 130 mm column outlet?
The chimney section is 120 mm, and the column outlet is 130 mm. They require replacing the column so that the output is 120 mm. Is it possible to put an adapter and not change the column?

Good afternoon, Alexander.
Your case falls within the scope of the building codes SNB 4.03.01-98 (amendment No. 3), Appendix D3, which explicitly states that “the cross-sectional area of the chimney should be determined by calculation and should not be less than the area of the nozzle of the gas appliance connected to the chimney”. As you can see, the gas service employees are guided by the law, so it is better to comply with their order so as not to solve this problem every year during scheduled inspections. Before buying another column, carefully inspect the design of your chimney. Very often, this issue can be resolved by replacing the heat-resistant insert with a pipe of increased diameter.
