How to properly seal the joints of sewer pipes in an apartment

We replace the sewer pipes in the apartment, do not touch the riser. They put the pipe on the sealant, but as soon as the water drains along the riser, the sealant spreads out and the water flows under the pipe. What to make the sealant harden faster?

Expert Answer

Eugene, in your case we recommend using the sealing method that was used everywhere before the invention of all kinds of sealants and self-adhesive tapes.
It consists in the fact that the junction of the bell of the riser and the sewer of the sewer system for 2/3 of the length is minted with a tarred tow or tow. To do this, melt the bitumen and place any fibrous material there. After that, the joint of the sewer elements is carefully sealed with a resin filler.
The remaining third of the joint can be filled with modern sealing compounds (plumbing silicone, liquid rubber, quick-setting rubber sealant, etc.), as well as a sand-cement mixture with the addition of asbestos fiber. The final part of the work is best done after complete cooling and hardening of the resin composition.
If during the work you will follow all the recommendations and be extremely careful, then the leakage problem will be eliminated once and for all - neither thermal expansion, nor vibration and other mechanical influences will affect such a seal.
