Diameter of pipes for supplying water to the shower room at low pressure

Hello!

A supply of cold water with a diameter of 50 mm passes through a plate boiler. What tube diameter must be in order for 15 showers from a half-inch (15) pipe to work normally at a pressure of 2 atmospheres?

Konstantin.

Expert Answer

Good afternoon, Konstantin.

And so, not the highest pressure in the system after the heat exchanger will be even lower (losses depend on factors such as the number of sections, the internal configuration of the plate boiler, the material of manufacture, brand reliability, etc.). You can find out the loss coefficient from the technical characteristics of the thermal device - the manufacturer must indicate this parameter in the product passport. In any case, in order to ensure the operability of all 15 points of drawdown, we recommend that you make the water supply to the shower with the same pipe with a diameter of 50 mm. In order to save money, you can make the supply line stepwise — connect the first 6-7 points to a 2-inch diameter feed, the next 5-6 showers to a 1 - -1 ½-inch pipe, and the remaining water distribution elements to a 1-inch section.
