Is it possible to install a slide gate on an AGV chimney
Is it possible to install a slide gate on an AGV chimney? The problem is that the draft is so great that it blows out the burning AGV burner and fuse.

Expert Answer
Alexei, you are thinking in the right direction. The fact is that with the onset of cold weather, the ambient temperature decreases, and the pressure of the combustion products increases - this effect most often provokes a flame failure on the pilot or main burner. Reducing the cross section of the chimney will reduce the draft to a normal value, so the use of a slide gate can solve your problem. We recommend only making a cutout in it, through which the flue gases will go out if the channel is accidentally blocked.
With regard to the legality of such an alteration, the gas service does not welcome the blocking of chimneys and may impose a fine. Perhaps your problem can be solved by reducing the height of the pipe or by protecting its outlet from wind and draft?
