Why do I need a vacuum cleaner for the pool and how to choose it correctly?

Good day! Finally, a pool appeared on my site. The whole family is thrilled. Only now pretty quickly dirt appears in the bowl and you have to do the cleaning. A neighbor spoke about a pool vacuum cleaner. Do not tell me what this thing is and how to choose it?

A pool vacuum cleaner is a very convenient and indispensable equipment. It helps to clean the walls and bottom of the bowl from small debris and dirty plaque. At the same time, a minimum of time and effort is spent. Such a device is not a whim, but an urgent need. Indeed, competent maintenance of the pool significantly extends its service life, as well as significantly lengthens the operation of auxiliary equipment - the so-called filtration cleaning system. Unfortunately, you did not describe your pool in detail, so we will consider in general terms all the possible options for special vacuum cleaners.

Option # 1 - Hand Models

Let's start with the simplest handheld devices. They are designed to clean small-sized frame or inflatable pools. A convenient telescopic rod and two nozzles usually come with the device.

  • Vacuum cleaner with a brush. Used for underwater cleaning of the bottom, steps and walls of the bowl from silt and dirt. Before starting work, the device is connected to the garden hose. The supplied water raises pollution from the bottom, which are drawn into a replaceable bag located on the apparatus body.
  • Mesh net skimmer. Designed to collect various large contaminants from the surface of the water: leaves, grass, insects and other debris that got there.

Both nozzles can be mounted on a telescopic rod, which easily reaches the most inaccessible places. The device is absolutely safe. All electrics are above the water and are reliably protected from possible splashes. The rod and hose are mounted on a special nozzle or on a skimmer.

Various nozzles for a manual vacuum cleaner allow you to clean the pool with the highest quality

Handheld vacuum cleaner for pools - easy to use and inexpensive equipment. However, when cleaning large surfaces, it is not very convenient, since the cleaning process is quite time-consuming and takes a lot of effort. To get an idea about it, it’s enough to remember how a room is cleaned with a traditional vacuum cleaner. Therefore, for large pools, it is advisable to use semi-automatic devices.

Option # 2 - semi-automatic devices

More advanced semi-automatic devices differ from hand-held devices in a more complex brush design and the ability to control the speed of the water flow. This gives them the opportunity to more efficiently and quickly clean the pool bowl. The device is connected to a skimmer or to a filtration system. Using a special membrane, he sticks to one area at the bottom of the bowl, collects all the garbage and dirt there, then moves to another place. The movement of the device along the bottom takes place in a chaotic manner.

Semi-automatic brush

The more sophisticated design of the brush for semi-automatic vacuum cleaners allows the device to cope with work faster and easier

Semi-automatic models are very diverse. They can be used to clean almost all types of pools. You can find devices that connect to the filtration system. There are variations equipped with a bag for collected dirt that do not need to be connected to a skimmer. They are similar to manual models, but thanks to the modernized brush, they clean surfaces faster and easier. Accordingly, the cost of semi-automatic devices varies greatly.

Option # 3 - robotic vacuum cleaners

These are the most perfect representatives of the harvesting equipment group. The devices are used primarily for cleaning large pools. Their main difference is that such a device is capable of cleaning the bowl without the participation and even without the presence of a person. The robot is completely immersed in water, including its electrical part. In this, it also differs from manual and semi-automatic devices, the electrics of which remain on the surface. Reliable protection ensures complete safety of the device. The device operates on a low voltage supplied by a transformer. Its radius of action is limited by the length of the cable stretched from the power source.

The brushes of the apparatus thoroughly clean the surface of the bowl, steps and sides. All contaminants are sucked up by a vacuum cleaner. The device does not connect with a skimmer or filtration system, which allows it to move freely on the surface. Contaminants enter the filter, which must be cleaned after each use of the vacuum cleaner. The unit can operate in two modes: programmable, when its path is set in advance, and radio-controlled. In this case, he obeys the commands from the remote control. The latter option is more often used for cleaning pools of complex shapes or especially contaminated areas.

The manufacturer offers a wide selection of various devices for cleaning the pool. The choice is yours.
