Reasons for airing the heating system

Why is the system airing?

Alexander! The formation of air jams in the heating system occurs for many reasons, among which several main ones can be distinguished, depending on which house (multi-unit or private) you live in. Most often, such a nuisance happens due to such factors:

  • riser repair - in this case, the cause of airing is the banal depressurization of the heating system, as well as its test by blowing or pressure testing;

  • improper filling of the system with water;

  • incorrect operation or breakdown of air vents;

  • frequent replacement or replenishment of the coolant with fresh tap water, which is characterized by a high content of oxygen dissolved in it;

  • corrosion of metal heating elements;

  • violation of the integrity of joints or tightness of equipment, as well as depressurization of pipelines;

  • coolant drain from the heating system.

In addition, the appearance of air in the working fluid can be triggered by an increased velocity of the coolant in the circuits - turbulence and various turbulences arising in the pipes lead to the formation of bubbles.

Another reason for the formation of air jams is associated with the use of aluminum radiators. The fact is that during the interaction of aluminum with chlorine and oxygen dissolved in water, a reaction occurs with the release of hydrogen, which also forms gas plugs. It should be noted that a similar phenomenon is characteristic of newly installed or repaired systems. Over time, a protective oxide film forms on the surface of aluminum, which prevents the occurrence of chemical reactions, and the release of harmful bubbles stops.

Finally, we recommend checking the presence of slopes to the upper points of the system (as a rule, air vents are installed in them). If you violate the installation rules, even the availability of intact automatic devices will not be able to solve the problem of airing.
