7 ways to quickly get rid of sticky traces of tape

The word "Scotch" (Scot) has long been a household word, although the name of the company that first released the adhesive tape. A similar story happened with xerox and diapers. The Americans began to consider scotch tape all the corresponding packaging products: they drew a neat parallel between the lack of glue in the first samples of the tape and the stinginess of the people of Scotland. But now the adhesive tape has become really sticky - try to erase the traces. We will show you how to do this.
Scotch tape again
If the glue residues are not too hard, then you can try to remove them with the same adhesive tape.
Attach a strip of masking tape to the stained area and tear it off abruptly. This procedure should be repeated until all traces have disappeared.
Sunflower oil
All types of adhesive tape are made on the basis of acrylic glue. And ordinary vegetable oil, when interacting with acrylic, changes its structure. Therefore, it is enough to put a little oil on the right place and wait about half an hour. After that, the remaining glue will easily be wiped off with a normal dry cloth or napkin. Remember to wash the surface with soapy water at the end to remove the oil.
The disadvantage of this technique is that not every material can be quickly eliminated from a greasy spot - for example, the method is not suitable for clothing.
Laundry soap
In hot water, dilute some laundry soap or other effective detergent. Then rub the solution into the stain with vigorous movements.
If the sticky layer does not come off easily, then wait 15 minutes and repeat the process. Gradually, the remaining glue will begin to curl into spools and tear off the surface.
Eraser
An ordinary grater from a school kit can solve the problem. It is ideally suited for the case when the glue is old and no longer sticky to the touch.
We use the eraser as if we are deleting a failed drawing. Gradually, the glue will roll and tear off, after which it can be simply brushed away with a hand.
The method is suitable for any surfaces: glass, furniture, plastic. Use a medium elastic band and avoid coarse erasers with a small abrasive, so as not to scratch the surface.
The problem is created by a large area of pollution, since labor and patience in this case will require a lot. The way out of the situation can be a special rubber nozzle for a drill, working on the same principle as an eraser, only several times faster.
White spirit and other solvents
This method must be used with caution, because solvents act differently on different surfaces. First apply a little substance to an inconspicuous place to evaluate the effect of the solvent. If everything is in order, then feel free to remove the stain with it.
The well-known White Spirit, as well as acetone, gasoline and nail polish remover, are suitable for the role of such a tool. Even ordinary medical alcohol can cope with the task, while it is well washed off the yellowish coating with white plastic.
By the way, there is a special tool to remove traces of stickers and tape. It is called "Profoam 2000" and it should be sought in construction stores.
We remind you that some solvents are toxic, so wear gloves and do not forget to ventilate the room.
Window Cleaner
Take a household mirror spray or car wiper, spray it on a contaminated area and leave it for a while.
If the stain is on a vertical surface, then due to the draining of the liquid, you will need to repeat the procedure several times. When finished, wipe off any traces with dry paper.
Hair Dryer
In case of old spots from adhesive tape, a hairdryer comes to the rescue. By heating the surface, we soften the coarsened traces of glue, so that they become more malleable to further removal.
The hair dryer very well solves the problem of stains from double-sided tape. Its structure has rubber and foams, which are difficult to remove due to their high density.
The disadvantage of this method is that the surface heats up and can suffer from this, so in some cases you will have to put off the hair dryer and use some other of the above methods.
