7 Ways to Easily Remove Price Tags from Items

On new items, especially on dishes, some price tags pester tightly. Removing them using improvised means and not damaging the surface of the item is not so difficult, but knowing a few secrets will not hurt.

Mechanical removal

A common method of dealing with sticky labels is mechanical stress. The method consists in wiping paper from an object under a stream of water with the metal or thick side of a sponge. But with this method of cleaning, there are two points to remember:

  • an iron sponge creates micro-scratches on the surface of objects if they are made of plastic or ceramic. This leads to an unprofitable appearance of the thing, and dirt gets stuck in scratches, which cannot be removed without caustic means;
  • friction removes paper, but not glue.

Therefore, the method is used only on labels that easily peel off from the surface. As a cleaning item, soft-naped sponges and dishwashing detergent are suitable.

Wet sponge

The cleaning method is similar to the previous one. It is necessary to moisten a sponge with a soft pile profusely and rub it with glued paper and the remnants of glue until they disappear.

Vegetable oil

In addition to vegetable oil, essential oils (tea tree, eucalyptus) or olive are used. Operating principle:

  1. Apply a few drops of oil to the price tag or label to cover the entire surface of the paper.
  2. Wait a minute.
  3. Use a soft sponge to remove paper and glue from the surface.
  4. Wash the item with water and dishwashing detergent.
  5. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

Alcohol-containing products

Alcohol-containing products cope with sticky price tags: cologne, alcohol, ammonia. It is enough to dampen a sponge or rag and wipe the label. Alcohol is not suitable for all objects, so in order to avoid damage to the surface, you should first conduct a mini-test on the reaction of the liquid.

Special tools

In order to reliably and without harm remove paper and glue from a new object, you can use special solutions to remove stickers, adhesive layer. They are sold on the shelves of hardware stores.

Eraser

To remove the price tag from hard matte items, an eraser is suitable. The main thing is that it is clean and does not leave streaks on the surface. The principle of operation is the same as when erasing a pencil from paper: draw on the price tag until it is removed.

If the eraser alone does not help, soak the label with water or oil before erasing.

Hot air

A stream of hot air violates the consistency of the adhesive, as a result of which the paper easily lags behind, and there are no traces of glue. A hairdryer is suitable for the procedure. The air stream should be directed to the price tag at a slight angle. In this position, wait 2-3 minutes, and then remove the adhered paper. If the first time fails, repeat heating.

When removing labels, not only air helps, but also a steam bath, a hot stream of water, and a microwave. In the first case, the item is kept above boiling water for a couple of minutes, in the second - under a stream of hot water. But the use of a microwave is not suitable for all items. The exception is things in which there are metal inserts and gold rims.

When removing the price tag from clothes, an iron helps. It is tuned to medium power and strips the adhered paper. An important nuance: clothes should be ironed on the back of the price tag and through a thin cloth.
