Training

  1. Plywood with a thickness of at least 10 mm.
  2. Jigsaw.
  3. Sandpaper No. 80 or 100.
  4. Fine sandpaper.
  5. Pencil.
  6. Ruler.
  7. Masking tape.
  8. Self-tapping screws.
  9. Slate paint.
  10. Stain, paint or varnish.
  11. Brush.
  12. Furniture hooks.
  13. Two loops.

It is easy to work with plywood, it is practical and wear-resistant, retains its shape for a long time and does not require special care. This is a cheap material that looks beautiful and does not require additional decoration.

You’ll quickly make a housekeeper yourself than find something suitable in the store, making it very simple and quick. First, cut two rectangles from plywood. The first 30 by 40 cm - it will serve as the basis, and the other for the shelf - 15 by 30 cm.

Treatment

To smooth the rough edges of the workpieces and not get hurt, use sandpaper, first large, and then fine. Do not rush, the more carefully you do it, the more beautiful and more pleasant the future product will turn out. Coarse sandpaper is polished perpendicular to the wood fibers, and fine sandpaper is sandwiched along them.

Then, using a pencil and a ruler, measure 15 cm from the bottom and draw a line. Glue a masking tape along it, which will serve as a separator between the key holder and the slate. If you want to leave the fields along all sides, then cover them with masking tape.

Painting

Slateboards are currently at their peak. They are original, practical and functional. Take advantage of this. Fill the upper part with slate paint in 2 layers; allow to dry before applying the second layer.

This paint is sold in hardware stores, but in large containers. To avoid spending, you can do it yourself. For this you will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of black acrylic paint;
  • 1 tbsp. l matte acrylic varnish;
  • 1 tbsp. l grout, cement or putty;
  • 1 tbsp. l of water.

Mix all components well in a separate container so that there are no lumps. Apply the paint not in a thick layer, but in a few thin layers. So the surface will be better and stronger. After each coat let the paint dry well.

Then remove the scotch tape and treat all the remaining unpainted spots. Do not forget about the shelf. If you want to preserve the color of the tree, then use a stain, if not, then paint. It will turn out very beautifully if treated with varnish.

Assembly

When all the parts are painted and well dried, proceed with the assembly of the finished product. On the dividing line, attach the shelf using self-tapping screws. Screw them on the back of the base. Then attach the furniture hooks under the shelf, mark their location and attach using self-tapping screws.

Think about where your key keeper will hang. Mark the place on the wall and on the product itself, attach the hinges and screw the screws into the wall. The housekeeper is ready and can take her place on the wall. Do not forget to put a piece of chalk on a shelf and draw a heart on a slate.
