Construction of a drain pit from tires - analysis of device technology

To save money during the improvement of private houses located in the countryside, and cottages that are actively used in the summer season, a drain pit from tires is built with their own hands. Reinforced concrete rings, which are recommended for use in the construction of such structures, are not affordable for everyone. Yes, and there may be problems with delivery if the house or cottage is located far from large settlements.

A small volume of domestic wastewater can be handled by a drain pit, the walls of which are reinforced with old automobile or tractor tires. True, they will have to be searched, since up to ten cargo tires may be needed for the construction of the structure. Nevertheless, a similar settler design is best used only for collecting water that does not contain a large amount of contaminants. Otherwise, you can upset the ecological balance on the plot.

Choosing the location of the drain pit

When choosing a suitable place on the site for the construction of a drain pit, pay attention to the following rules:

  • from a residential building, this structure should be at a considerable distance, but not closer than five meters;
  • from open water sources, the sump should be removed as far as possible;
  • it is not recommended to carry out the construction of such a structure either at the highest points of the site or at the lowest places;
  • it is necessary to take into account the composition of the soil, as well as the level of occurrence of groundwater.

Important! If you do not want problems with your neighbors, do not place a drain pit from the tires in the immediate vicinity of the border of the site. It is recommended to maintain a distance of one to two meters. If this rule is violated, offended neighbors may file a lawsuit with the court regarding the transfer of the sump and compensation for moral damage.

How to determine the desired tank volume?

When calculating this parameter, two initial indicators are taken as a basis, namely:

  • the amount of water consumed per day;
  • soil throughput value.

If one of these criteria is ignored, one may encounter a situation of rapid overflow of the dug sump. There will be a problem of pumping capacity and the removal of domestic and sewage to a special place designated for their storage and purification. As a rule, you have to call a cesspool machine, paying the company expenses depending on the volume of pumped liquid.

However, with the correct calculation of the volume of the drain pit, it is possible to significantly reduce pumping costs, since most of the liquid will be absorbed into the soil.

  • The dimensions of the required pit depend on the diameter of the tires, to the value of which add another 10-15 cm.
  • On the ground, they outline the contour and begin to dig.To dig a narrow and deep enough foundation pit, shovels with long cuttings are needed. With a bayonet shovel, the soil is loosened, and a shovel shovel, made in the form of a bucket, is removed from the pit to the surface.
  • At first, work is carried out with a tool with the usual length of the handle, and as the depth deepens, the handle is lengthened.
  • Typically, the depth of the drain hole allows you to lower up to seven cargo tires.

Important! When digging a pit, it is necessary to monitor the preservation of the original dimensions, avoiding their reduction. In practice, they just periodically lower the tire down, checking its freedom of movement.

What is a drainage well for?

After reaching the intended depth of the pit, they begin drilling a drainage well in its center, which is necessary to increase the area of ​​absorption of liquid waste into the soil. This operation is performed as follows:

  • Using a garden drill, make a well of the greatest possible depth;
  • then, a drainage plastic pipe with holes through which water escapes is installed in the well;
  • the upper part of the pipe, located at a height of one meter from the bottom surface, is closed with a polymer mesh that protects the well from solid waste;
  • fill the bottom of the drain hole with a ten-centimeter layer of rubble, which prevents siltation of the soil.

How to prepare tires for styling?

Before lowering tires into the prepared foundation pit, they trim the inside of their rim from one side. This operation is performed by jigsaw. This is necessary in order to prevent the accumulation of waste in the interior of hard-to-reach parts of tires.

A hole is made in one of the tires to accommodate the inlet sewer pipe. The metal cord is cut with a hacksaw.

After the preparatory work is completed, all tires are lowered into the drain hole, while the latter should slightly protrude above the ground. The free space between the walls of the pit and the tires is covered with gravel or excavated soil, compacting the filling in layers.

Close the drain hole from the tires with a plastic or metal cover, providing a hole in it to control the filling level of a homemade sump. With the help of the embankment they protect the structure from rainwater.

As you can see, building a drain pit from tires with your own hands is quite simple. This design will last at least 10 years. At minimal cost, you can create the simplest autonomous sewage system that can cope with the disposal of household liquid waste.
