Effective warming of a wooden door in 3 steps

Entrance wooden doors are very sensitive to climate change. This leads to deformation and rapid deterioration of the door leaf. With the onset of winter cold, there is a need for their insulation. This work, which does not require special efforts and costs, can be done independently.
Step 1 - installation of insulation in the recesses
The gaps between the door leaf and the frame are one of the reasons cold air enters the house. The installation of a sealant, the optimal type of which is selected in accordance with the situation, will help to eliminate this problem. There are several types of materials for door seals:
- foam rubber - the most popular and inexpensive, but fragile material;
- silicone - elastic and moisture resistant, but low-strength and short-lived insulation;
- rubber, rubber - characterized by strength, durability and reasonable price;
- polyurethane - not inferior in characteristics to rubber and rubber;
- TEP - a synthetic polymer that combines the properties of rubber and thermoplastic, has high frost resistance and durability, but it is notable for its high cost and complicated installation.
Sealing tape, in addition to protecting the room from drafts, provides sound insulation, cushioning, sealing and protection against extraneous odors. Having picked up the necessary version of the seal, you need to install it in the appropriate place using an adhesive strip or a special tool.
Step 2 - Dermatin Tight
At this stage, the upholstery of the wooden door takes place, for which a material such as a skin substitute - dermatin is used. The size of the upholstery should have a margin of about 10 cm in length and width on each side, as this is necessary for the formation of the hem. Dermatin fixation is recommended using special furniture nails with decorative hats. This will help give a more attractive appearance to the outer skin. It is also possible to use a relief wire, which is pulled between the nails, creating at the same time additional reinforcement and a beautiful pattern.
Step 3 - filling the space under the heater upholstery
As a heater for a wooden door, which is placed under the external upholstery, special materials are used that protect the entrance space from drafts and low temperatures. The most famous are the following types of insulation materials:
- mineral wool is environmentally friendly, retains heat well, is not affected by microorganisms and rodents, but is prone to moisture accumulation, rolling and sagging;
- foam rubber - a simple, convenient and affordable material;
- polystyrene - an affordable lightweight insulation, retains its shape perfectly, but needs to be treated with special compounds because of combustible properties;
- Isolon - a material based on foamed polyethylene with a folded layer that creates the effect of a thermos, provides heat protection with a minimum thickness, which improves the aesthetics of the appearance of the door;
- polystyrene foam is a non-combustible, lightweight material that retains heat well.
The insulation sheet of the required size is fixed on the door leaf using ordinary nailing, applying glue or fixing with construction brackets. After completion of all stages of work, the removed accessories and the door lock are installed in the same place.
The process of warming a wooden door does not require much effort and time. It is entirely possible to do this yourself by preparing the appropriate materials for the job. And if you want, you can seek help from specialists.
