Why you can’t sit on the toilet for a long time, especially for men

The usual time required for defecation (bowel movement) is no more than 3-5 minutes, but many modern people spend much more time on the toilet, preferring to read, play on the phone, do many other things for which they use the toilet - not a good place at all. And the question is not so much the inept spending of time, but the health problems that arise if you regularly sit in the toilet.
Long sitting on the toilet: possible problems and diseases
So, if a person regularly sits on the toilet for more than 10-15 minutes, it is quite possible to develop such negative consequences as:
- Diseases of the rectum. With a long stay on the toilet, blood stagnates in the pelvic area, which negatively affects the condition of the veins. They expand, clog, as a result of which hemorrhoidal nodes are formed and hemorrhoids develop. One of the manifestations of the problem is the appearance of bloody discharge in the feces, and with a severe course of pathology, these discharge are very plentiful. In addition, this situation leads to a violation of the structure of the intestinal mucosa in the anus, as well as prolapse of the rectum.
- Decreased sensitivity of the rectum, which leads to a violation of the frequency and frequency of urge to defecate.
- Pinched sciatic nerve, accompanied by severe pain.
These problems are typical for both men and women, however, a long stay on the toilet leads to the appearance of more specific diseases. So, men often develop prostatitis, which in the absence of proper treatment can lead to the disappearance of sexual function (impotence). Also, representatives of the stronger sex, who prefer to stay in the toilet, often there is an expansion of the veins of the spermatic cord, which further leads to infertility.
A long stay on the toilet is also harmful for women. They often have enlarged veins of the pelvic organs (reproductive and genitourinary systems), which negatively affects their functionality and can lead to the development of inflammatory diseases (for example, cystitis), as well as impaired reproductive function.
What is the time considered to be safe for health? Since the usual act of defecation should take no more than 3-5 minutes, sitting on the toilet longer than this time is not recommended.
Of course, sometimes there are problems with bowel movements, in particular, constipation. To facilitate this process, it is necessary not only to eat right and lead an active lifestyle, but also to properly visit the toilet. That is, during bowel movements, it is recommended to put your feet not on the floor, but on a small stand. In this position, the process of cleansing the intestines from feces will be faster.
