Where to put the check valve on the boiler
Good day. I install an electric boiler Klima Hitzu and got a little confused about how to make an external piping. Please tell me where the check valve is installed - at the inlet of cold water or at the outlet of hot? If possible, attach the correct diagram indicating all the binding elements.
Alexander.
Answer
Hello, Alexander.
If we are talking about the check valve as a separate unit, then it can be put in any place on the input line. When heated, the water in the boiler will expand, and its pressure will begin to increase. Of course, the fluid will tend in an area with less pressure. It will not be able to go through the hot water supply line until the supply valves and mixers are closed. But back to the water supply - easily. In this case, such a situation may arise that your neighbors will get warm from the tap with cold water. In order to exclude such a possibility, a check valve is installed - a device that passes water only in one direction.
Another thing is if the non-return valve is part of the safety valve - such combined devices are most often included in the factory installation kit of the water heater. In this case, the locking and safety mechanism should be attached directly to the inlet of the boiler. The presence of a tap between it and the water heater is not allowed, since when the valve is closed, pressure relief in critical situations will be impossible.
In addition to the check valve and the safety valve, we recommend that shut-off and drain taps for both branches be included in the piping - this will allow you to remove the boiler without having to shut off water at the entrance to the house. We place the connection diagram below.
