Bath or shower: what to choose for a small bathroom?

Good day. They started a repair in the bathroom. We live in a typical Khrushchev, so the area of our bathroom is very small. What is better to choose in this case: a bathtub or a shower cabin? We welcome any advice.

The first thing to do is to understand if your family needs a bath. If households are used to conducting water procedures only lying in it, then you can not do without equipment. If the bath is most often used as a kind of shower tray when taking a shower, then it can be safely neglected. In any case, there are many equipment options. It is only necessary to choose the most suitable model correctly.

Compact showers

The one who thinks that any shower stall saves space is mistaken. It's not like that at all. Most of these designs take up more space than a traditional bathtub. In this case, an angular system will be acceptable. It can be of any shape: a triangle, a hexagon, a semicircle, etc. Also, devices differ in sizes, which usually start from 0.7x0.7 m. You need to understand that the smaller the dimensions of the cabin, the less convenient it is to wash. When buying equipment, you need to be guided by common sense and, no matter how you would like to "cut out" an extra centimeter of the room, choose the structure that is convenient to use.

Check it out is very simple. It is enough to go inside the cabin directly in the store and close the doors. Everything will become clear immediately. Practice shows that the optimal size can be considered 1.2x1.2 m. Another important nuance is the doors of the device. The most common and cheapest option is swing. However, in a small room it is very inconvenient to use them. In this case, experts recommend models with sliding doors. It is better if they are transparent, so it will be possible to create a feeling of spaciousness in a small room.

The best option for a small bathroom - corner shower with sliding doors

The height of the tray does not affect the dimensions of the shower cabin, but it is very important for maximum usability of the device. There are two options: deep and shallow. The height of the first can reach almost half a meter. Such models can be considered a kind of symbiosis of the bath and shower. Of course, it will not be possible to lie in it, but to bathe a child or a pet is quite. However, deep pallets are very uncomfortable for elderly or sick people. In this case, it is better to choose devices with a shallow depth.

If you can’t find the right model, you can try to assemble it yourself. Fortunately, in specialized stores it is easy to choose the right pallet, doors, etc. Another option is an open shower area. Usually it is mounted in the corner of the room. It is partially enclosed and equipped with a floor drain. Such a system fits very well into the interior and significantly saves space. It is very easy to arrange and is considered the best option for people with disabilities.

Bathtubs for small rooms

Those who are determined to install a bath also have a very wide selection. The easiest option is to buy standard equipment with a length of 150 to 170 cm. If you can install it along a short wall, you get the most optimal layout, allowing you to place the maximum possible amount of equipment. It is best to refuse square or round devices - due to their shape they “eat up” additional area.

Corner bathtub for small bathrooms

A bath located in the corner will save a lot of space. Such equipment can be very different in form.

An interesting option may be the so-called sitz bath. This device is from 120 to 140 cm long. It can have a very different shape, sometimes very unusual, which allows the equipment to fit into the most original interior. The biggest drawback is the inability to take a lying position in the bathtub, which is not suitable for everyone.

The most diverse form of corner equipment. These are all kinds of “droplets”, “pears”, polygons, etc. Buildings look very attractive and significantly save space. However, such a bath can only be called convenient conditionally. It is unlikely that an adult can freely stretch out in it, most likely, it will only be possible to sit. Thus, if desired, even for very small bathrooms, you can choose both a shower cabin and a bathtub.

We drove into a new apartment, now we are faced with the choice of which shower cabin to choose. Thank you, the author of the article found the answers to many of my questions. We opted for a corner cabin. Indeed, the place will not take much, but in terms of functionality is not inferior to anything. Yes, the bathtub is also possible in small sizes, but we are not lovers of soaking in hot water, it is enough for us to wash ourselves in the shower for 5-10 minutes. I initially liked the doors. I would like to recommend and pay attention when choosing equipment on the brand, as well as on various functions. Many in life are not particularly needed, but you have to overpay for them.

My sister recently decided to install a shower cubicle and titanium in a private house. The problem was that a suitable room with a communicated communication was only 90 cm wide and 3 meters long. So we found her a small cabin - a separate pallet, separately front walls, without rear ones. It was very difficult to connect all the hoses and siphons in such a small space, my husband was transported with this booth for two days. But the result was worth it - now you can wash yourself at any time without drowning the bath. The bathroom certainly would not fit. In general, I think that the cabin is better - it takes up less space with maximum comfort!
