How to make wood stains from coffee
In the store you can buy stains of different colors made from chemicals. However, it is possible to color the wood in a natural way, using organic and environmental materials and ingredients.
Essential ingredients and tools
It is better when the room is painted with toners of natural composition, because we are talking about security. By the way, there are times when the use of industrial stain is not possible due to various circumstances. and the ingredients for natural toner are always available in any home - this is the way out.
You should not run to the store for material, just look at them in the kitchen cabinet, there is always what you need to prepare a tint stain.
For work, we need the following materials:
- a wood product that will serve as a toner sample sheet;
- instant coffee;
- varnish for covering wood;
- filtered water.
Tools for work:
- ordinary paint brush;
- capacity for the preparation of natural stains made of stainless steel or ceramics;
- wooden spoon;
- electric or gas stove;
- fine sandpaper.
The manufacture of the composition
Before the direct manufacture of toner, it is necessary to prepare a wooden surface for applying stains. Eco-friendly toner has a light transmission and a loose coating of the painted object, so the surface must be carefully prepared. Such a composition will not paint over the bumps and dirt on the tree, it is necessary to know this before painting.
It is necessary to clean the planned object with sandpaper so that the surface becomes smooth and even in appearance.
To prepare the stain, we need coffee, it will add a chocolate tint to the painted wood object. For toner, only purified and filtered water is necessarily used, since the trace elements entering the tap liquid can affect the final shade of the prepared coloring composition.
Ground Arabica beans in a coffee grinder should be brewed, insisted for a couple of hours and filtered through a sieve. The hue will be light brown, although it can be adjusted by the strength of the peppy drink in the composition. When soda is added to ground coffee in a 1: 3 ratio, a more saturated shade will come out.
Vinegar in this composition will add a dark color to the wood, however, you still need to add nails, or metal shavings.
Coffee is better than instant coffee, not natural, as it has stronger coloring pigments, and this is a significant factor when choosing an ingredient for making a natural stain.
In the future, you can add other components to change color.
To prepare a tint stain, it is necessary to boil filtered water by adding instant coffee to it. Keep the mixture boiling for about three minutes. Strain the chilled composition through cheesecloth or sieve; it can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days.
Before use, you will have to heat the mixture to + 30 degrees Celsius, so the pigments better penetrate the structure of the tree.
Before you start, you need to test the stain on a test board. From this test you can understand - add more coffee for intensity or not.
When applying the prepared toner, it must be remembered that the composition is applied several times for sufficient penetration into the wood fibers.
After choosing the proportion of water and instant coffee, the recipe should be written down to prepare another similar composition.
Having prepared the composition, apply tinting first across the fibers, then along. Perhaps this will be enough for a saturated shade.
Tea stain option
Toner from loose tea stains wood and gives it a new shade. For the composition you need a thick tea leaves made from small-leaf tea, so the color will be more noble.
The tea leaves must be filtered through medical gauze and applied to wood. The tannin contained in tea will reward the wood with a chocolate shade.
The concentration of the tea leaves must be adjusted independently, based on their own preferences for color saturation.
Additional processing
To finish coating wood made with wood stain, it is better not to use polyurethane varnishes, they tend to curl. For painting, nitrol varnish is suitable, which should be applied to the wood in three layers for gloss.
The varnish will fix the result after staining, preserve the color and structure of the wood. This is a mandatory procedure after applying a natural stain.
