6 ways to spend less time defrosting a refrigerator

Refrigerators that do not have a “no frost” function must be defrosted from time to time. If you do this often and regularly, it usually takes 2-3 hours to thaw in a natural way. But it happens that too much ice is frozen, then you can’t do without emergency measures. We will show you several effective ways to quickly clear the freezer from ice.

A vacuum cleaner

Before starting to thaw, disconnect the refrigerator from electrical power, remove all products from the freezer. Connect a small nozzle to the vacuum cleaner hose and turn on blowing mode.

Evenly spray the ice in the chamber with an air stream from a vacuum cleaner. From air pressure, the defrosting process will go much faster.

Fan

Using a fan in a similar way helps, but without the active participation of a person, which, of course, is much more convenient than using a vacuum cleaner.

You need to open the door of the freezer wide and install a fan in front of it. Turn on the most powerful mode. Then you just have to collect the flowing water.

Warmer

Mention, albeit a slow, but also quite effective way to melt a thick crust of ice. To do this, you need a regular rubber heating pad.

Pour hot water into it and put it inside the freezer. Ice will melt from heat, and water will drain down. From time to time, renew boiling water in a heating pad and change its location.

Hair dryer

Hot air from a hair dryer is the fastest way to defrost a refrigerator. Turn on the device at maximum power and direct jets of air on ice crusts.

Place containers under the refrigerator in advance and put rags on. Melting ice will go quite actively, so precautionary measures will be out of place.

Bowl of hot water

In any containers that withstand temperature extremes - pots, bowls, containers - you can pour hot water and install it inside the chamber.

Water, gradually giving up its heat, will melt the ice. Refresh hot water as it cools.

Knife or wooden stick

If you don’t have any suitable equipment at hand, you can scrape ice mechanically. To do this, use a knife or wooden stick.

When the ice is thick, use a knife to crack the ice in pieces. But be careful not to scratch the inside of the appliance and damage the mechanisms. Closer to them, it is safer to use a wooden stick or spatula.

After the entire snow "coat" has thawed, thoroughly rinse the chambers, shelves, drawers and grilles from the inside. Then you can plug in the refrigerator again and load the products back.
