How to effectively use narrow openings between furniture in the kitchen or in the bathroom

It is very important to properly organize the space in the kitchen and in the bathroom, especially when it comes to small rooms. To conveniently arrange all the jars, bottles and boxes, literally every centimeter will have to be used.

In what cases is a method useful

Between the parts of the kitchen, between the cabinets in the bathroom or between the furniture and the wall, sometimes there is a narrow space of 10-15 cm wide. It can be equipped with a retractable storage section. It is convenient to place small objects and accessories on its shelves so that they are always at hand. You don’t have to look for the right jar in deep cabinets, the sliding section will provide easy access to frequently used items.

Create a narrow pull-out section

The section can be integrated in both the upper and lower cabinets. It extends using telescopic rails. The front side is covered with a furniture facade. Inside the section is divided into shelves, most often two or three. Instead of classic shelves, wire baskets are also made.

Extendable section can be made with bottom or side mount. The second option is considered more reliable and convenient to use, the bottom mount is suitable for wider shelves or baskets. When designing a section, pay attention to such details:

• when choosing accessories, consider the load on the shelf: most will not withstand more than 10-12 kg;
• plan closers, thanks to which the shelf will move quietly and smoothly;
• if bottles are stored in the section, half-rings-dividers can be placed on shelves in advance.

What can be stored on drawers

Retractable shelves are most often found in kitchens. Each housewife uses these shelves in her own way.

1. The classic pull-out section consists of two shelves. On the lower, higher, store tall containers and bottles (for example, with oil or vinegar). The upper shelf is smaller; it contains jars and small bottles with sauces.
2. A section of three small shelves is suitable for storing spices. All jars and seasoning containers will be visible, and during the cooking process you will not have to sort out a dozen bags in search of the right one.
3. If you make supplies, for example, canned food, it is also convenient to place them on low shelves.
4. You can store bottles of wine or other alcohol in drawers.
5. In the pull-out section, there can only be one shelf below, and a towel holder on top.
6. Instead of shelves, holders for lids or trays are also installed, so they do not get lost in inaccurate stacks in cabinets and drawers.

In the bathroom, retractable sections are also convenient:

• detergents can be placed on shelves next to the washing machine;
• cleaning products can be placed in the section. In this case, detergents are placed on a high shelf, sponges, rags and gloves - on a low shelf or on special holders;
• shampoos, gels, scrubs and other cosmetics that are rarely used or bought with a supply can also be stored on shelves.
