A simple but effective way to remove grease from the ventilation grill

Today in every kitchen there is an extractor hood or ventilation hole, which serves to eliminate odors. After a certain time, the devices fail and stop working in the previous mode. To avoid this, it is important to resort to cleaning the kitchen ventilation on time.

What is required

To clean quickly, easily and efficiently, you will need to prepare tools and tools that will help in this matter. To eliminate minor fat accumulations, we need:

  • capacity;
  • baking soda;
  • lemon acid.

You may need a plastic scraper - this will depend on the degree of contamination.

Soda

Cleaning contaminated ducts will require a lot of effort, as you will have to remove the grille, mesh and other components of the system. But this treatment will extend the life of the exhaust and ventilation system.

To eliminate minor contaminants, improvised means, such as soda, are suitable. You can make gruel from the product, but this is impractical, since the solution will drain from the grate. Experienced housewives prepare a special solution.

For this method, you will need a deep container, which you had to prepare in advance. Boil water in it, about 2/3. After boiling, reduce heat and add soda. Five grams of water will require 250 grams of funds. Carry out all the steps carefully, hot water can become brown while soda is attached to it. Now you can drop in the container those items that need cleaning. Twenty minutes of boiling will be enough. After that, take out the grates and go over them with a stiff sponge or brush moistened with dishwashing detergent. After all operations, rinse everything under running water and let dry.

If after fifteen minutes of boiling the fat does not leave, drain the water and carry out the procedure again. Only in a new solution.

Preparation of a hot acid solution

Everyone knows that acetic acid breaks down fat very well. But working with her can be dangerous. Therefore, we suggest replacing it with citric acid. It, like vinegar, softens the accumulated fat and dirt.

To wash the grilles of the ventilation system, you need to prepare a solution. To do this, take 60 grams of citric acid per liter of water. With this tool we rub the grates and leave for a few minutes. Hard-to-reach spots can be cleaned with cotton buds.

If the pollution is strong enough, it is recommended to use a hot acid solution. Boil water on the stove, add citric acid. The tool is ready, it can be used to clean removable items.

Grill solution pouring

The solution with citric acid is ready, now you can begin to clean the system. Be careful as the mixture is very hot. Soak the grates in the finished liquid. It will take about half an hour to see the result.Remove the ventilation grills from the container and wipe with a sponge, then rinse with running water. If the first time did not work, then the procedure will have to be repeated until the result appears.

Do not forget to use gloves during the procedure. Soda and citric acid can dry the skin, and this will cause irritation and various eczema.

Mechanical cleaning

To restore the air duct, mechanical cleaning is carried out. At this stage, you may need a vacuum cleaner, brush, spatula. The ventilation grill will have to be removed and washed with a cleaning agent, possibly replaced with a new one. Clean the accumulated grease and dirt from the walls of the hole in the wall with a spatula. Using a vacuum cleaner, clean the ventilation hole and then wipe with a damp cloth those areas where you can reach. After all these steps, you can return the ventilation grill to its place.

In order not to resort to mechanical cleaning and other radical methods, carry out scheduled cleaning. Do not wait until several layers of fat have accumulated and it will sit firmly on the grill.
