Do-it-yourself deepening of the well - technology of work and useful tips

A sharp decrease in the water level in the well may be due to abnormal weather conditions. Moreover, the problem becomes relevant for all such sources located in the district. If the shortage of drinking water is observed only in one well and for a rather long time, then the reason lies in the change in hydrogeological conditions. This leads to a rapid rise in the bottom surface and a decrease in the source of water debit. To restore the previous volume of water reserves, it is necessary to deepen the shaft by installing several additional rings of smaller diameter. Of course, it is better to trust the deepening of the wells to professional teams with full technical and instrumental equipment. When carrying out work on their own, they pay close attention to safety precautions, since, being at a depth, a person risks his life.

When deepening wells, they are guided by the same principles as during construction. In the presence of water, it is first pumped out, and then the soil is removed with buckets.

A worker located directly in the well shaft must be on insurance. In case of deterioration in well-being, he is quickly raised up. This video shows how to dig a well on your own.

The list of equipment for work

We will need:

  • a pump (one or two) for pumping water;
  • special shovel with a short stalk;
  • several buckets of different volumes;
  • device with which soil is raised;
  • a winch capable of supporting loads weighing up to 600 kg;
  • rope-ladder;
  • chipper;
  • devices for lighting the place of work.

Important! Work also requires waterproof workwear, a safety helmet, and high rubber boots.

How to choose the diameter of concrete rings for deepening?

The diameter of reinforced concrete rings, lowered down when deepening the well shaft, should be less than the diameter of previously installed structures. Rings of a smaller diameter of 80 cm are used if the well shaft is straight along its entire length. The height of the rings of this diameter can be equal to 90 cm or meter. When using rings KS-8.9 or KS-8.10, it is possible to minimize the gap between the elements of the shaft to 2-3 cm.

Well deepening

Wells are deepened using rings of smaller diameter, selected taking into account the curvature of the shaft

Important! If, however, a skew of the rings is observed in the shaft, then an even smaller diameter of 70 cm is chosen to deepen the product. The gap between the new and previously installed rings is significantly increased, which must be eliminated by laying pebbles or natural stone.

The order and technology of work

It is necessary to begin cleaning and deepening the drinking well with pumping water. If the flow of water is small, then this procedure is carried out using conventional buckets.Otherwise, pumps are connected to operation.

After pumping water, they begin to rise to the surface of the soil, sand, silty bottom sediments. Excavation from under the lower ring can lead to subsidence and separation from the entire shaft. To prevent this situation, the rings are fastened together with metal brackets or plates, if this was not done at the stage of construction of the well. Particularly strong fastening requires the rings of a well standing on a quicksand. Otherwise, the lower ring may tear to the side, which will complicate or make it impossible at all to further work on deepening the shallowed well.

Carrying out the deepening of the well with your own hands in this way, they strive to ensure that the whole shaft evenly drops down to the depth of the extracted soil. Additional rings of the same diameter are mounted on top. The disadvantage of this method is that individual concrete rings can be clamped by the soil so much that even with high pressure on the shaft from above, using heavier equipment, they will not move down.

Important! Large stones found on the path of subsidence of the main well shaft, are trying to extract as a whole. If for some reason this cannot be done, then the stone is crushed into small parts with a jackhammer. It is possible to destroy a stone by repeatedly heating its surface, followed by rapid cooling with water.

But is it necessary to deepen it at all?

Sometimes deepening a well in a country house is much more difficult than building a new source of water intake. As a rule, such work is more expensive than the construction of a new well. Most importantly, they can be wasted and not lead to the appearance of a sufficient amount of water. Therefore, before starting work, everything should be calculated based on the opinion of specialists. If there is a suitable place, you can dig a new well or punch a well if the water lies at great depths.

Well deepening

Well deepening should be carried out only in compliance with all safety requirements - this is a rather dangerous type of work

It’s not enough to know how to deepen a well; one must also be able to do it. Cleaning and deepening a well has always been considered a time-consuming and difficult operation, which physically healthy and hardy people can handle.

Therefore, to conduct work it is better to invite a team of professionals with experience and skill in eliminating such problems. Experts will determine the scope of work, evaluate the effectiveness of the deepening, choose the best method and hand over the repaired object to the owner "turnkey".
