Why the pump does not turn on after a pressure drop

We have water running through time. When the water in the system ends, the pump starts to work and water is supplied from the tank. But often the water runs out, and the pump does not turn on after the pressure drop. We have to turn it off and on several times. We have a pump with automatic pressure control. What could be?

Alexey, the problem you described indicates a pressure switch malfunction. Nevertheless, do not try to immediately replace it with a new device, try to repair what is. To do this, completely disconnect the water supply system and remove the cover of the automatic switching device. Very often, fuzzy triggering is caused by the burning of the contacts of an electrical relay or the oxidation of parts of a mechanical part.

To eliminate such problems, clean all the elements of the switching mechanism (springs, levers, guides) and lubricate with technical petroleum jelly. Contact pads must be cleaned with “zero size” sandpaper, that is, P600-P800 grades according to the new GOST or M20-M40 according to the old standard. As a rule, after this the pressure switch starts to work normally.

Another cause of malfunction is damage to the diaphragm of the switch. You can replace it with a working part, however, this will require minimal locksmith skills. If you have them, then coping with the task will be easy.
